Ovtrel-21 is a medicine containing the combination of Levonogestrel and ethinylestradiol. It is used for the contraception (to prevent pregnancy) and also in the treatment of irregular periods. It helps to prevent the release of egg and its fertilization by the sperm.
Ovtrel-21 Tablet contains two female hormones—Levonorgestrel (a progestin) and Ethinyloestradiol (an estrogen). Together, they work to provide effective contraception by preventing ovulation and bringing hormonal balance. When taken regularly as prescribed, Ovtrel-21 offers reliable birth control and additional gynecological benefits.
Ovtrel-21 tablet is used for -
1) Prevention of pregnancy (oral contraception).
2) Regulation of menstrual cycle.
3) Management of hormonal imbalance.
4) Reduction of mentrual cramps and heavy bleeding.
Some common side effects of Ovtrel-21 are as : Headache, breastpain, abdominal pain, weight gain,depression and constipation.
Take one tablet daily at the same time each day.
Follow the 21-day dosing schedule as prescribed by your doctor.
After completing one strip, a 7-day break is usually advised before starting the next strip (unless otherwise directed by a healthcare professional).
Do not skip doses to maintain effectiveness.
Ovtrel-21 works by:
- Preventing ovulation (release of an egg from the ovary).
- Thickening cervical mucus, which blocks sperm from reaching the egg.
- Altering the uterine lining, making it unsuitable for implantation.
These combined actions effectively prevent pregnancy.

1) Take Ovtrel-21 at same time every day to ensure maximum effectiveness.
2) Start the tablet only after consulting your doctor.
3) Ovtrel-21 does not protect against sexually transmitted diseases (STDs).
If you foget to take one tablet of Ovtrel-21, take it as soon as you remember. However, if you miss two or more tablets, take the last tablet as soon as possible and continue the rest as possible. Use an additional contraceptive methods such as condoms for next seven days.
