Cefluv is an antibiotic. It is used in the treatment of bacterial infections of ear, throat and respiratory tract.
Cefluv is a brand name for a mediciation containing cefixime 200mg which is an antibiotic.
Cefluv is effective in infections of the respiratory tract (eg. pneumonia), urinary tract, ear, nasal sinus, throat, and some sexually transmitted diseases.

Cefluv contains cefixime which is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic that works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis. It binds to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs)—particularly transpeptidases—thereby blocking the cross-linking of peptidoglycan strands, an essential step in forming a stable bacterial cell wall. This disruption weakens the wall, leading to cell lysis and bacterial death, especially in rapidly growing bacteria.

Do not skip any dose, complete the full treatment course even if you feel better. Take it with food, preferably at the same time everyday.
If any dose of Cefluv 200 is missed, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for next dose, skip the missed dose and follow the regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
Since there is limited safety information available during pregnancy, CEFLUV 200 Tablet should not be used during pregnancy unless it is considered essential by your doctor.
It is unknown whether Cefixime passes into breast milk. Hence, it is advised to discontinue nursing temporarily if you are treated with CEFLUV 200 Tablet. If you are taking this medicine while breastfeeding, watch for diarrhoea in your baby.
CEFLUV 200 Tablet can cause side effects like confusion, altered consciousness, or feeling less alert. If you experience any of these, do not drive or use machinery.
