Xinoclav DDS dry syrup is a combination antibiotic. It works by combining two complementary actions to effectively treat bacterial infections. Amoxycillin interferes with the formation of the bacterial cell wall, which is essential for the survival of bacteria, leading to their destruction. However, some bacteria produce enzymes called beta-lactamases that can inactivate amoxycillin. Clavulanic acid blocks these enzymes, protecting amoxycillin from being broken down and allowing it to work effectively against resistant bacteria. Together, this combination provides broader antibacterial coverage and helps clear infections more reliably.

Antibiotics usually do not interfere with the ingredients in vaccines or cause a bad reaction in a child who has just been vaccinated. However, children taking antibiotics should not get vaccinated until they recover from the illness. As soon as your child feels better, the vaccine can be given.
With prolonged therapy, the doctor may monitor kidney and liver function tests periodically to keep a check on your child’s condition.
